Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie

Takes place between the first season-where she is still capturing the Clow Cards. The movie is about this woman who has feelings for Clow Reed. She exerts an evil presence when Sakura arrives to Hong Kong after winning a trip for four. It is later revealed it was not luck that brought her here-she was brought here by the woman's magic.

While she is in Hong Kong, Sakura continues to feel this presence. All the while, she has prothetic dreams where she encounters a watery world and that woman. She appears to have an evil motive-capturing Clow Reed to accompany her in the watery world created by her-but all she wanted to do was see him because she loved him.

Being chased by the Arrow card, she evades it as long as she can. Just as the Arrow makes her shot at Sakura, Li Syaoran, standing on top of a tree, comes to the aid and summons lightning. Buying her some time, she calls upon Windy to surround and distract Arrow then later calling jump to hop over to the other side, catching her off guard. She successfully captures the Arrow.

It is raining in Tomoeda. Sakura is asleep in her bedroom. The Clow book at her table begins to glow but her sleep is not disturbed. Instead she is led into a dream. She is on water in an unfamiliar room. Suddenly, from beneath the shallow waters, ribbons arise. They dance around her then wraps around her. She is pulled into the water. Clows voice appears: Water is something that must flow he repeats.

In class they are getting their report cards. Sakura is afraid of the grades she got, but it turns out that she did okay. Meanwhile, Li Syaoran is sitting nervously at his desk waiting for his grades. Finally he and Meilling are called up for their report cards. Meiling is not happy she didn't get straight A's. Syaoran on the other hand is happy with his grades. It's good enough to show his mother.

After school, Sakura and Tomoyo go to the local toy store. She is given the chance to try the raffle. She dips in and destiny has it, she picks a gold ball. Gold happens to be the first prize. She has won a trip for four to Hong Kong.

Sakura's father allows her to go, but needs someone to take her. She looks at Touya and he accepts on the condition that she does five of his chores. She also takes Yukito and Tomoyo to take her father's place. Kero tags along of course.

In Hong Kong, Sakura and Tomoyo stay at a beautiful hotel with a wonderful harbour view. Their first outing is on a boat. Their next trip is to the local markets. Here, Kero tells Sakura that Hong Kong has changed a lot but he feels the same evil presence as before and that there is coincidence she is here.

Later that night, she dreams the same dream she had previous nights, but this time she sees the person wearing the ribbons. It is a chinese woman. She invites her to take hold of the ribbons, she grabs it just as she awakens.

After they had their lunch at a restaurant where they order a lot of dim sums, they head to Bird Street. While Sakura looks at the birds, she senses someone is watching her. She looks around to pinpoint the aura's location. She sees two birds on the cables above. She chases after the birds as they fly around Hong Kong. Having lost sight of them after a few moments, she calls Jump and starts to jump around the buildings of great height to follow them. She finally lands in a secluded area where a well situates. The aura is coming from within the well. She walks up close to it and comtemplates. Ribbons appear and she is mesmerised by them and begin to head into the well. Luckily Syaoran comes and wake her up but later she falls into the well anyway.

They decide to go to the Li Manson where Sakura meets Li Yelan. She tells her posses great power and can attract adversity. She invites her and her family and friends to stay.

In her dream, the woman appears. This time the ribbons which she grabs, they grip her wrist and pull her up. She is hurting and is helpless to do anything. The woman tells her that she has been waiting for her. When she wakes up she is left with marks on her wrist when she wakes up.

Hearing her scream, Li Yelan comes in. She is brought outside to a spacious, circular balcony where Li Yelan chants the familiar incantation which is used by the Li dynasty. The Chinese Wheel of Fortune (seen on Li Syaoran's lasin board) materialised on the concrete floor. She finds that she was called to Hong Kong for a reason-by the woman in her dreams. She tells she must be careful and she is the only one who knows what to do.

Sakura and her family and friends prepare to leave the next morning. Yelan kisses Sakura on the cheek before setting her and Syaoran off, telling Sakura to be careful of water.

At the Cat Street Bazaar, Sakura and Syaoran notice the aura once again. They pursue it and come to an old antique store at the end of a narrow alley. Inside the store she finds an old book on a table with the sound of water dripping. On the front of the cover is a woman sitting next to the well. Sakura is possessed to pick it up and open it. Kero tries to stop her but he isn't strong enough.

The woman's voice commands her to enter. The rest come in just as she opens the book. Water shoots out from the book, filling the room, drowning the people inside the room. Sakura soon wakes up, not knowing what happened. While under the water, everyone seems to have disappeared and she reappears on the surface but it isn't the antique store, it is the place in her dreams where that woman appears again.

It appears that Sakura is not the person she summoned to meet her, but she is surprised that she uses the Clow Cards. As the woman shoots her with waves of water, Sakura evades it. Syaoran then turns up to save her from being hit by another wave. The woman is once again surprised Li Syaoran uses the clow cards too.

She then speaks to herself. She doesn't understand why these two have appeared when she has summoned Clow Reed. Amidst her thoughts, Sakura and Syaoran prepare to rescue their friends.

Sakura rescues Tomoyo first while Syaoran distracts the woman and tries to rescue Meiling. His magic isn't strong enough to break free of the bubble encompassment. Meanwhile, the lady surrounded by Syaoran's Storm card breaks free from the magic. Syaoran is caught by the woman's whirlpool of water. He tells Sakura to get out, telling the woman's magic is weaker on the surface before he too is captured.

She reluctantly leaves the watery world with Tomoyo and Kero to re-enter the antique store. She finds that he book which was her doorway to that world has disappeared. The presence of that woman has gone too. Here, Kero realises something but is interrupted by the shop keeper's footsteps and quickly parts.

At their hotel Kero tells Sakura she used to be a fortune teller-where water was her medium for making predictions. She was popular for a while until Clow Reed appeared. His fortune telling always came true which harmed her fortune telling business. After she died, she transferred all of herself to that book which Sakura found at the antique store. Kero concludes that she wants to imprison Clow Reed in that book with her and since Sakura has his magic she was summoned.

She figures out that the way in was through the well she encountered earlier, but she is not strong enough to break the barrier. Li Yelan aids her in breaking the barrier, allowing her to enter the watery world again.

After going through a labyrinth of rooms-all of which had flowing water-she finds the one she is looking for and the woman. Sakura pleads for her friends return. She replies she needs to bring Clow Reed to her before she would grant that wish.

Suddenly everything around her begins to collapse as four globes rise to her-the ones with her friends. She absorbs them into herself. She asks where Clow Reed is. Not wanting to hear anything else, but where Clow Reed is, she disappears and reappears into the real world in the Hong Kong skies. Sakura, still in the watery world, follows her, calling upon Fly.

As soon as Sakura emerges, the woman attacks, demanding for Clow Reed's appearance. Sakura runs away for a moment but is caught by the ribbons and pulled to the top of a building. The woman, again, demands the answer to her question: Where is Clow Reed? Sakura tells her he has passed away. The woman, in disbelief, begins to fill the building with water. She can't believe that she has been waiting and calling him for so long to find out he is dead. She begins to cry.

Sakura watches the tear drop as it showed the past. It is the woman's birthday and Clow Reed has given her a hair piece. Sakura hears Clow Reed's voice again: Water must flow. She then summons Arrow and it shoots through the walls of the building allowing the water to flow, defeating her magic.

Sakura walks up to the woman and tells her that she now understands: the woman loved Clow Reed. Sakura tells her she understands how hard it is when the person you love is taken away from you. The woman finally accepts Clow Reed's death and finally let go, releasing her emotions, allowing the water to flow. Sakura's family and friends returned upon the dissipation of the woman's watery form.

Back on the boat, Sakura realizes something too, she needs to let the water flow too-she also needs to tell that certain someone (Yukito) her feelings soon.
